Digital electioneering continues after deadline ends Thursday midnight
DSCC and DNCC elections on Saturday
Despite the deadline for official election campaign expired on Thursday midnight, the mayor candidates of two major political parties used social media till Friday noon to seek votes and also provided guidelines to the voters.
Awami League's (AL) mayor candidate Fazle Noor Taposh for the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) posted a status on his verified Facebook page on Friday noon seeking votes for the boat symbol.
"Vote for boat symbol," wrote Taposh, on his Facebook page.
AL's mayor candidate Atiqul Islam for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) also updated his Facebook status.
On his unverified Facebook page, Atiqul shared a poll survey posted by the Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
The survey has cited AL candidates will win with majority votes in the city elections.
BNP candidates are not lagging in virtual space use as a tool for electoral campaigning on Friday.
"In any impartial poll survey, more than 80 percent people support sheaf of paddy, the electoral symbol of BNP," Ishraque Hossain, BNP's mayor candidate for the DSCC, claimed on his verified Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Tabith Awal, BNP's mayor candidate for DNCC, posted a video on Friday noon on his Facebook page in which BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was seen talking to reporters.
"Secretary General and Tabith Awal at Khaleda Zia's Gulshan Office," the post reads.
Tabith, in the video, urged the city dwellers to use their voting power in the elections.
"If there is a healthy atmosphere on Saturday, please vote for me and vote for sheaf of paddy," urged Tabith in his post.
Notably, DNCC and DSCC will go to elections on Saturday, and electronic voting machines will be used in all the polling centres.
