BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi slammed the government yesterday for its new education curriculum, which he believes is a "planned move" to destroy the education system.
"Since the Awami League assumed power, the incidents of question paper leakage, allowing cheating in exams and unleashing violence in educational institutions were the talk of the decade. Now, new education policy and a curriculum against the country's culture and values have been added to them," he said during a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan office on Thursday.
"If this new educational policy and curriculum, anti-national and anti-religious in values, are implemented, the education system of the country will be fully destroyed," he added.
He alleged that whenever the AL comes to power, democracy and freedom of speech are controlled, while the education system is arranged in such a way that the new generation becomes its "slave."
Rizvi also claimed that the new education system has been rejected by the nation.
Instead of developing the future generation as skilled and competent citizens with ethics, the government is repeatedly pushing the education sector into controversy, creating worries among the people about the education system as their future generation, he asserted.
"One-party rule has been established in the country again. One-party government, one-party parliament, one-party laws, judiciary, administration—everything is under one-party rule," noted the BNP leader.
