Hartal supporters attack Bank Asia’s Brahmanbaria branch
The attackers also damaged the Bangbandhu’s mural in front of the bank
Hartal supporters have attacked the Brahmanbaria branch of Bank Asia today during a daylong hartal.
"We were working inside the bank keeping the main gate closed today. More than one hundred picketers suddenly, around 11am, started hurling brick chips at our branch," said branch manager Gobinda Kumar Biswas.
He further said, "Most of the attackers were wearing shirts-pants. They broke the front glasses of the branch. None of the bank officials was injured in the attack."
The attackers also damaged the Bangbandhu's mural in front of the bank.
The activists of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh went berserk in Brahmanbaria today as they attacked Jela Parishad, district Awami League, press club and municipality offices during hartal.
They also vandalised and set fire to a number of government offices there.
The Islamist group has enforced daylong hartal today protesting over the deaths of its activists in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria in police action, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit.
