‘Jahangir did not deviate from Bangabandhu’s ideology’
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim stated this at a programme at the DRU on Saturday
The late former state minister AKM Jahangir Hossain did not deviate from the ideology of Bangabandhu or the spirit of the original Awami League even during difficult periods in the political arena, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim has said.
More people like Jahangir are needed now, he said.
The minister was addressing a programme titled Janatar Pratyasha at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Saturday. It was arranged in memory of Jahangir, who died of Covid-19 on 24 December last year.

Rezaul said, "Mainstream politicians need to be well-established in politics. If politics is well-established, our foundation will be strong, and we will be able to deal with adversity, obstacles and thorny situations."
"Many things will crumble like a house of cards if mainstream politics become chaotic. That is why we need to get out of the evil culture of the sudden rise and fall in politics," he added.
Matia Chowdhury, a presidium member of the Awami League, addressed the event as the chief guest.
She said, "Jahangir faced torture many times while doing politics in line with Bangabandhu's ideology. Still, he did not deviate from that course."
"Leaders like Jahangir are not made in a day. They are the assets of the party," she added.
Lawmaker Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Awami League Organising Secretary Ahmed Hossain and Water Resources Deputy Minister AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem also addressed the programme.
