Over 600 from various parties join Trinamool BNP
The party announces to field candidates for 300 seats in next polls
Over 600 leaders and activists of different political parties, including the BNP, as well as retired army officers, lawyers and journalists have joined Trinamool BNP, which announced to field candidates for 300 seats in the upcoming national election.
To welcome them, the party held a programme at the Jatiya Press Club auditorium yesterday with its Co-Chairperson KA Jahangir Majumdar in the chair, reports BSS.
Trinamool BNP Chairperson Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, addressing the event as the chief guest, said the party does not want to see arson attacks, killing of innocent people and vandalism of vehicles in the name of movement in the country.
"We want to engage in peaceful political activities. We'll participate in the next general election but a level-playing field will have to be created," he said.
He urged Trinamool BNP leaders and activists to take preparation for the next polls. "We will participate in the next national elections. We are trying to nominate candidates for all 300 seats," he added.
Party Secretary General Taimur Alam Khandaker urged Trinamool BNP leaders and activists to work unitedly for a free, fair and neutral election in the country.
He also called upon the law enforcement agencies to take action against the killers, arson attackers and those involved in vandalism of vehicles in the name of movement.
Former minister and BNP leader Barrister Nazmul Huda formed Trinamool BNP in 2015. The party got registration from the Election Commission on 16 February this year.
The party's executive chairperson advocate Antara Selima Huda, daughter of Nazmul Huda, and senior vice-chairperson Major (retd) Sheikh Habibur Rahman attended the programme as special guests.
