Portion of JSD rejects Council-2019
No party constitution for JSD was proposed or approved in the last 2016 council
A portion of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) has rejected the upcoming Council-2019 that is scheduled to be held on December 28. Marking the council as illegal, they also claimed that no party constitution for JSD was proposed or approved in the last 2016 council.
Eight central leaders, including General Secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, stated in a press release issued by the JSD central working committee.
"We were told that a new party constitution will be set by calling a Jatiya Parishad meeting 4 years ago. A new 7-member steering committee was later formed, which was illegal and against the party constitution," the press release stated.
The leaders demanded to organise a national convention after talking to all leaders and activists of JSD and to form a constitution in that convention.
The left-wing Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, led by Hasanul Haq Inu, the former information minister, suffered a split at its national council in 2016 with a group rebelling against electing Shirin Akhter its general secretary without a vote.
