Sculptures will definitely be made: Hanif
The state will take legal actions against those who will speak out against Bangabandhu’s sculptures
Awami League Joint-General Secretary Mahabub-ul-Alam Hanif has said Bangabandhu's sculptures will definitely be made in this independent country.
"There is no evil power to resist it. The state will take legal actions against those who will speak out against the sculptures. The people will resist," he said while speaking at a commemorating ceremony of late Mohammad Hanif on Saturday.
Md Humayun Kabir, general secretary of Dhaka South Awami League, was the special guest at the function presided over by Dhaka South Awami League President Abu Ahmed Monnafi. The event was organised by Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue.
Recalling late mayor Mohammad Hanif, the joint general secretary of the Awami League said, "Despite being such a large-scale leader, he [late mayor Hanif] always felt comfortable to introduce himself as a party worker. We should learn humbleness from him."
"The way he defended our beloved leader in the face of a horrific grenade attack will be a big example," he added.
Mahabub-ul-Alam Hanif said in his speech, "Some Islamic scholars (Alims) are talking fiercely about sculptures. They say they are the bearers of Islam. There is no place for militancy and fundamentalism in Islam. Islam is the religion of peace. But they do not speak the language of peace. Their aggression cannot be about Islam."
Raising the question to Ulama-Mashayekh, he further said, "Which Islam are you talking about? People will not tolerate your language."
"There is a government in this country, and there are public; one needs to be aware of the power of them. This country has not gained freedom to listen to these Pakistan's ghosts and Rajakar's threats. Do not try to make a fuss out of nothing," he added.
On the topic of the threats, Hanif again said those who are talking about Shapla Chattar should be ashamed. They fled in the darkness of that night. How dare they threaten the government again today?
Claiming that there are sculptures in various Muslim countries of the world, including Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan and even Pakistan, he added no one talks about sculptures in those countries.
Criticising various statements of the BNP, the Awami League leader said BNP politics is full of lies and allegations.
