Our goal is to form govt accountable to people: Tarique
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman today said if the BNP comes to power in the future, it will form a government accountable to the people.
"Our goal is to form a government that is accountable to the people of the country. If the government is accountable to the people, we will be able to solve all the country's problems in stages," he said while virtually addressing a workshop in Cumilla.
The BNP leader also said various memorials will be built in the names of those who were killed in the July uprising so that everyone remembers the revolution.
"I appreciate all the BNP leaders and activists who stood by the injured and the families of the martyrs. It is commendable that BNP has stood by the victims regardless of party affiliation," he added.
"If the country is to change, the foundation of primary education must be strengthened. We will pay maximum attention to primary education. Primary education will be reorganised in such a way that the most talented children of the country become teachers."
Vowing to increase salaries and allowances of teachers, he said, "Arrangements will be made so that no teacher has to engage in other work after class and focus only on educational institutions."
Referring to the Awami League, he said the fallen government wanted to remain in power by relying on corruption.
"We will instill in the minds of students from primary school that corruption is bad. Then an anti-corruption attitude will be born in everyone's mind from childhood," he said.
Tarique also said initiatives will be taken to establish small cooperative-based cold storages in different places of the country to prevent rotting and wastage of vegetables.
