Tarique Rahman convenes emergency meeting of BNP's standing committee tonight
The party's policy strategy and new decisions may be discussed in it, sources said
An urgent meeting of the BNP national standing committee will be held at the party chairperson's political office in Gulshan at 8:30 pm tonight (6 January).
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has called the meeting, Shamsuddin Didar, an official of the BNP chairperson's press wing, told BSS.
He said Tarique Rahman will chair the meeting virtually.
According to party sources, the meeting has been called in light of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's medical trip abroad.
The party's policy strategy and new decisions may be discussed in it, said the sources.
BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia is supposed to fly for London in an air ambulance tomorrow.
In this regard, leaders and activists have been advised to reduce the crowd.
However, it is not yet confirmed whether the senior leaders will go to the airport to see Khaleda off.
Earlier, on Sunday night, after a meeting of the standing committee members with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the BNP chief will go to London on 7 January for better treatment.
