RAB seals and fines “Visa Guide Center”
The Visa Guide Center has been cheating people for years by assuring them of lucrative jobs and salaries abroad
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) sealed an institution named Visa Guide Center on Monday over money embezzlement from their customers.
A mobile court operation at the Shah-Ali market of the capital led by Palash Kumar Bosu, executive magistrate, punished CS Afiz, chairman, and Mosharaf Hossain, managing director, with a one year jail-term and fined them Tk50 thousand each.
Palash Kumar Bosu said, "The Visa Guide Center has been cheating people for years by assuring them of lucrative jobs and good salaries abroad. They took huge amounts of money from people who wanted to go to Canada, Japan and Europe to get a job."
The mobile court also sentenced Ariful Islam, office staff member, and Sujon Rony, IT officer, to six months of jail-time.
The Executive Magistrate further said, "The Visa Guide Center managed to send a few people abroad with fake visas and work permits."
Ziaul Hoque, one of the victims, told The Business Standard, "This company wanted seven lakh Taka to send me to Japan and get me a good job. I had already given them 50 thousand Taka in February"
