Rail communication with Rajshahi has been restored over four hours after a carriage of the Titumir Express train from Rajshahi to Chilahati was derailed in Rajshahi's Belpukur.
The derailment happened around 6:40am this morning (13 January) and the rail communication was restored around 11:15am as a relief train Ishwardy recovered the derailed train.
Hasina Khatun, divisional transport manager of Pakshi Railway Division, said it is not possible to say why the carriage derailed without an investigation. However, there were no casualties.
Rajshahi Railway Station Manager Shahidul Alam said the 11-carriage train left Rajshahi Railway Station at 6:20am. After crossing the Haryana station around 6:40am, a coach of the train derailed in Belpukur. As a result, rail communication with the rest of the country was suspended.

The Banalata Express train was scheduled to leave Rajshahi Railway Station at 7am, and the Silk City train was scheduled to leave at 7:40am.
Banalata Express left the station after almost a five-hour delay at 11:45am. Madhumoti Express also left for its destination after rail communication was resumed.
