Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman has been appointed the new chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority, replacing Rear Admiral M Sohail.

The appointment was announced in a notification issued by Commodore AKM Afzal Hossain on behalf of the Bangladesh Navy.

Before the appointment, Rear Admiral Moniruzzaman served as the managing director of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. He is expected to take up his new role at the Chattogram Port Authority on 11 August, according to the notification.

SM Moniruzzaman's previous roles include serving as the managing director of Dockyard and Engineering Works Ltd in Narayanganj prior to his tenure at the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
