Like rice harvesting, season of realising demands ongoing: Power and Energy adviser
"Every demand has a financial component which can lead to increase in government expenditure. Government revenue has not suddenly increased overnight," he said.
Like rice harvesting season, the season of realising demands has started in Bangladesh, said Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
"Every demand has a financial component which can lead to increase in government expenditure. Government revenue has not suddenly increased overnight." said the adviser today (26 August) after visiting Dhaka Medical College to meet students, including Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah, injured in attacks by Ansar members yesterday.
" ..How will the government meet these demands in a short time? To meet these demands, the government has to print money. This will increase inflation. If inflation occurs, the public will suffer," he added.
Addressing the protestors, Fouzul Karim Khan said, "We are willing to talk in a systematic way. It was never the case that anyone failed to meet with an adviser."
The advisor also said, "This government's mandate is very strong. The students brought this government to power with their blood on the streets so no one should think this government came into being automatically."
Recalling the history of misdeeds in the last 16-17 years, the adviser said, "We are aware of fair demands and discrimination, but we need time to eliminate discrimination."
The power and energy advisor said this government is the government of public expectation and the government will take all necessary measures to fulfil this public expectation, but time is needed.
During the visit to the hospital, the interim government's Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul was also present.
