Go back to work: Shajahan Khan to transport workers
He assured them of presenting their demands to the government
Shajahan Khan, executive president of the Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, has urged the protesting transport workers to go back to work.
"We are discussing the Road Transport Act 2018. I will present their (transport workers) demands to the government," said the former shipping minister after a meeting with transport workers' leaders in the capital's Segunbagicha on Thursday.
He also expressed hope that the government will consider the demands positively.

"There will be another meeting with the workers' leaders tomorrow (Friday) as well," he said.
The federation will officially disclose its stance over the law after the meeting, he added.
However, some of the leaders told The Business Standard that a majority of the workers want amendments to the transport law.
The transport strike was continuing in a number of places across the country on Thursday even though it was formally called off on Wednesday midnight.
The leaders of Bangladesh Truck Covered-Van Owners and Workers Oikya Parishad called off their strike after Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan assured them of meeting their demands including amendments to the Road Transport Act 2018.
