Rongdhonu Group Director Mizanur lands in jail in extortion case
On 17 September, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Mizanur from Jamuna Future Park area in the capital
A Dhaka court today (20 September) sent Rongdhonu Group director and former vice chairman of Rupganj upazilla Md Mizanur Rahman to jail in a case lodged for allegedly demanding Taka five crore as extortion.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the order as police produced the accused before the court after end of his two-day remand.
On 17 September, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Mizanur from Jamuna Future Park area in the capital. Police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand. The court, after hearing both sides, placed Mizanur on a two-day remand.
One Mahbub Rahman Modhu filed the case with Khilkhet Police Station on 30 April against eight people for infiltrating into properties owned by East-West Property Development Limited and City Multi Agricultural Company on 28 April.
Then, the accused also beat three security guards black and blue. They also asked the guards to tell their bosses to give them Taka five crore as extortion.
