Dhaka North and South clean 100% sacrificial animal waste in less than 12 hours
The two city corporations in Dhaka said they have cleared waste from sacrificial animals slaughtered on the first day of Eid-ul-Adha in less than 12 hours.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has successfully removed waste from all of its 54 wards as of 9.30pm on Thursday (29 June).
Maqbul Hossain, public relations officer of DNCC, said, "The waste removal programme started at 2pm and ended at 9:30pm and in less than 8 hours, 100% waste removal was completed in all the wards. Around 14,500 tonnes of waste was removed in 2,713 trips till 9:30pm on the day of Eid in 10 regions of DNCC."

Meanwhile, Dhaka South City Corporation Spokesperson Abu Naser has said the south city corporation cleared waste from all of its wards within 11 hours.
"The waste removal programme started at 2pm and ended at 1:35am," he said.
He also said that Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh supervised the waste removal activities in the central control room throughout the day on Thursday (29 June).
Earlier, the mayors of the two city corporations declared that sacrificial animal waste will be removed from the city streets within 24 hours.
