Samrat now in stable condition: NICVD director
A medical team has already been formed for Samrat
Casino kingpin Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, who was hospitalised with chest pain, is now in stable condition.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Director Dr Afzalur Rahman said, the details about his physical condition will be briefed later at 2:30pm today.
A medical team has already been formed for Samrat and he is being treated under Doctor Mohsin Islam of the hospital.
Doctors will carry out an x-ray soon to decide about his further treatment.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Jailer of Dhaka Central Jail Mohammad Jahangir Islam said, "We brought Samrat at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital at 7am as he was suffering from severe chest pain.
"After examining Samrat, doctors advised to transfer him to NICVD," he added.
Samrat was sent to the Keraniganj Central Jail on October 5 as he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for illegally keeping animal hides.
He was arrested from Cumilla's Chauddagram for alleged involvement in running casino business at sports clubs in the capital. He reportedly made a move to flee the country through Cumilla border.
He was expelled from as Jubo League (Dhaka South) president on the same day for violating disciple of the Awami league front organisation.
