The district administration had earlier imposed this restriction on 20 September at 1pm due to clashes throughout the area.
After two days, Section-144 was lifted in Rangamati today (22 September) at 11am.

At one point, heated arguments broke out between the Bangalis and the indigenous people.
Clashes ensued and at one point, miscreants set fire to about 50 shops at Larma Square in Dighinala upazila. Five people were injured in the incident.
Later at night, there were shootings in the Narankhaiya area of Khagrachari, where three people were killed and nine people were injured.
In Rangamati, violent clashes and counter-clashes left one person dead and over fifty injured.
