Shahriar Alam promises to help ailing Khoka get travel permit
As Khoka and his wife do not have any passport, so travel permit is the only way to return home.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has said Bangladesh's New York Consulate will take necessary steps to provide travel permit to former Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka and his family if they apply.
He made the remark on a Facebook post today, adding, "As Khoka and his wife do not have any passport, so travel permit is the only way to return home."
The state minister also said there are cases against Khoka and his wife. "I am not sure whether there is any arrest warrant issued against them. I have talked to the honourable home minister and he assured to consider the matter."
Khoka has been undergoing treatment in a very critical condition at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York since October 18.
The BNP leader went to the USA in 2014 for treatment while the validity of his passport expired in 2017.
Fakhrul said Khoka has been fighting for life as his condition turned critical.
