Ship carrying goods from Karachi to arrive at Ctg port on 21 Dec
The ship departed Karachi on 11 December with 825 TEU containers
The Panama-flagged vessel, YUAN XIANG FA ZHAN, is set to arrive at Chattogram Port on 21 December with containers from Karachi Port, Pakistan.
The ship departed Karachi on 11 December with 825 TEU containers, said officials at the shipping operator's local agent.
This marks the second visit of the Panama-flagged ship to Chattogram Port since its first arrival on 11 November.
On its inaugural trip, the ship delivered 297 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) containers from Karachi.
After unloading the imported containers in Chattogram, the vessel will load 1,200 single containers for its return journey. The ship's first voyage carried a variety of goods, including raw materials and consumer products for various industries.
Traders expect similar types of goods on this second trip, including raw materials for the garment industry, chemicals, minerals, and other consumer products imported from Pakistan.
The YUAN XIANG FA ZHAN, which operates on the Chattogram-Karachi route, is managed by Feeder Lines DMCC, a Dubai-based container shipping operator. Regency Lines Limited, a subsidiary of Karnaphuli Limited, serves as the local shipping agent of the company in Bangladesh.
Anis Ud Daula, executive director of Karnaphuli Limited told TBS that the number of container imports from Pakistan has increased compared to the first shipment.
"Currently, a ship is arriving from the United Arab Emirates to Chattogram via Pakistan every 38 to 42 days. If the volume of containers continues to rise, there may be an increase in the frequency of ships on this route," he added.
