Smugglers abandon mobile phones worth over Tk2 crore at Cumilla border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a significant haul of mobile phones valued at more than Tk2 crore, illegally smuggled into the country from India today (17 October).
Lt Col AM Jaber bin Jabbar, commander of 60 BGB, said a raid on the Khanjani field of Cumilla's Burichong Upazila led to the discovery of cartons filled with illegally imported mobile phones.
"It is believed that the smugglers, anticipating BGB's arrival, abandoned the shipment and fled," he added.
