Spain keen to provide technical support for modernising Bangladesh's judiciary

Spain has expressed its keen interest in providing technical support for the modernisation of Bangladesh's judiciary.
The country is ready to extend comprehensive support to build a robust judiciary, said Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru during a courtesy meeting with Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed at his office this morning, said a press release issued by the Supreme Court's Public Relations Office.
During the meeting, the ambassador praised recent initiatives to ensure the independence of the judiciary under the chief justice's leadership.
In addition to judicial collaboration, the ambassador and the chief justice exchanged insights on the cultural and historical traditions of the two countries.
The chief justice reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law and enhancing human rights protections.
He emphasised the Supreme Court's dedication to continuing judicial reforms initiated after the July revolution.
Refaat Ahmed assured the ambassador of full cooperation in strengthening bilateral collaboration to modernise the judiciary and institutionalise judicial independence.
