Spanish ambassador meets DSCC Mayor
DSCC has plans to build an international conference centre in this state-of-the-art 50-storey building.
Spanish ambassador to Bangladesh, Francisco Benitez, has paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh on Tuesday.
The meeting held at the mayor's office at Nagar Bhaban in the morning , reads a press release.
The ambassador proposed to exchange mutual experience and cooperation in advanced urban traffic management, water management, waste management, preservation of history and heritage, and implementation of a smart city in Dhaka metropolis.
He also said that there is an opportunity for cooperation in other sectors, especially in the field of compactors, vehicles and machinery.
Benitez said, "Spain is the fourth largest garment market in Bangladesh. The Spain-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce has already been established to enhance Bangladesh's business partnership with Spain"
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh said that initiatives are being taken to build a planned city in the northern part of the DSCC. The mayor said Spain could exchange technical assistance to build a smart city there.
The Mayor added that the government have a plan to build a Central Business District (CBD) at Kamrangirchar on the banks of the river Buriganga as a business hub with modern facilities in an aesthetic environment.
He also added that DSCC has plans to build an international conference centre in this state-of-the-art 50-storey building.
During the meeting, the ambassador thanked the Mayor for inviting him with his colleagues to inspect the traditional installations under the auspices of South City Corporation.
