UP staffer suspended in Jhalakathi over 'anti-CA remarks'
Moniruzzaman is the second official reported to have been suspended over remarks against the CA and the government on Facebook yesterday
An Upazila Parishad official in Jhalakathi has been suspended over a derogatory Facebook comment against Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
The official, SM Moniruzzaman, is an assistant of the Steno Secret section of the Sadar Upazila Parishad, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farhana Yasmin last night (7 October).
"Moniruzzaman has made a comment on Facebook against the head of government. As this is considered misconduct under the rules, he has been suspended," the UNO said.
Moniruzzaman made the derogatory remarks on a Facebook post of Prothom Alo with a news link of an interview of CA Yunus, she said.
When the Facebook comment came to the attention of Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman, he ordered the UNO to issue a suspension order against Moniruzzaman, according to Yasmin.
The suspension order was issued yesterday evening.
Moniruzzaman is the second official reported to have been suspended over remarks against the CA and the government on Facebook.
Tapashee Tabassum Urmi, an assistant commissioner in Lalmonirhat, was also suspended yesterday after being made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) following controversial remarks regarding the chief adviser and the interim government on Facebook.
