Standing Committee on Ministry of Agriculture hosts 24th meeting
The 24th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Agriculture of the 11th National Parliament was held on Tuesday (2 August) at Bangladesh Parliament.
The meeting was chaired Matia Chowdhury, chairman of the standing committee.
Committee members Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzaque, Mohd. Emaz Uddin Pramanik, Md Muslem Uddin, Anwarul Abedin Khan, Umme Kulsum Smriti and Hosne Ara participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the implementation progress of the decisions taken in the previous meeting and the overall progress of the Ministry of Agriculture were discussed.
Providing necessary training and exhibition for the expansion of the developed varieties at the field level and taking steps to increase the amount of production for the purpose of supplying high-quality crops to farmers in the country have been discussed in the meeting.
In order to increase the production of oil crops in particular, scientists have been directed to continue the activities of using available knowledge to develop short duration and quality varieties.
Alongside this, the committee has urged to play a supporting role in meeting the food shortage by increasing crops such as domestic sweet fruits, corn, wheat, etc.
It is recommended to the agriculture ministry to formulate necessary plans to meet the country's food needs and to make an effort to realise Sonar Bangla through sustainable development and to facilitate the increase of support in agricultural work for the upazila level agricultural officials to formulate a building construction project.
Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, the heads of various departments, organisations and related officials of the ministry and the National Parliament Secretariat were present in the meeting.
