JS body seeks financial statement on private train service
The railways ministry has to submit the statement at the next meeting of the committee
The parliamentary standing committee on the railways ministry has asked the railways ministry to submit a financial statement (income and expense) on private train service in the country.
The committee sought the statement at a meeting of the committee in the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Tuesday.
The railways ministry will have to submit the financial statement at the next meeting of the committee, reads a press release issued by the Public Relations Branch of the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat.

At present, 40 trains are run by private operators in the country.
The committee also asked for details of monthly and yearly reports on different types of oil being used by the railways ministry.
The meeting was chaired by lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, the chairman of the committee.
In the meeting, the committee also directed the railways ministry to work in collaboration with local parliament members to recover railway assets in Sayedpur railway station.
It also discussed different development projects of the railways, including the Padma Railway Bridge, the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar rail line, and the Khulna-Dorshona double rail-line projects.
Among others, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon and standing committee members Asaduzzaman Noor, Md Saifuzzaman, HM Ibrahim, Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz, and Nadira Yeasmin Jolly participated in the meeting.
