Sust Chhatra League president arrested
President of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit of Chhatra League Khalilur Rahman has been arrested.
He was arrested by RAB-9 and RAB-14 in a joint operation in the Bhaluka Thana area of Mymensingh district around 1am today (29 September).
Khalilur Rahman hails from Shibpur village of Kendua police station in the Netrokona district.
RAB sources said there is a case against Sust Chhatra League President Khalilur Rahman under section 143/147/148/324/307/302/34 of the Penal Code at Sylhet Kotwali police station.
RAB-9 Media Officer Senior ASP Moshihur Rahman Sohail said he was handed over to Sylhet Kotwali Police Station after his arrest.
It has been reported that Khalilur Rahman is accused in the murder case filed in connection with the death of journalist ATM Turab while performing his professional duties during a BNP procession in the Bandarbazar area of Sylhet city on 19 July during the student-led protests.
Besides, he is accused in the murder case of university student Rudra Sen, who fell into the water during a police chase in the Sust area during the agitation. Apart from these two, Khalil was accused of being involved in several other violent incidents in Sylhet during the movement.
Earlier on 24 September, Sust unit of Chhatra League's General Secretary Sajibur Rahman Sajib was arrested by RAB from Narsingdi.
Sajibur Rahman hails from Dukundichar village under Raipura Thana of Narsingdi.
