Ten export good thieves arrested
Police also recovered 4,675 stolen shirts and 1,520 pants from three covered vans
Police in Chattogram have arrested ten members of an organised gang, who stole export goods from covered vans during shipment.
The law enforcers recovered 4,675 stolen shirts and 1,520 pants from the arrestees during a two-day drive.
The arrestees are - Md Suman, 31, Md Yousuf, 35, Md Tajul Islam Hasan, 22, Md Rubel Hossain, 20, Md Sumon, 19, Md Borhan, 26, Md Nuru Nabi Prokash Shohagh, 40, Md Masud, 30, Md Mahbubur Rahman Prokash Shawon, 32, and Md Saiful Islam Prokash Ripon, 23.
The items were being transported to Chattogram from Savar for export.
"We have arrested one member of the organised gang while he was stealing export goods from a covered van in front of EPZ police station. The others were arrested based on the information we obtained from him," Md Arefin Jewel, additional deputy commissioner (port) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, told The Business Standard.
"Some of the arrestees work at helpers of the covered van. They secretly stole export goods and sold them outside," he added.
