Three held with Yaba, hemp in Bhola, Khulna joint operation
The Bangladesh Navy, in a joint operation, arrested two people and seized Yaba tablets, hemp, and cash money at Eowazpur of Shashi Bhushan in Bhola today (16 November).
The arrested were alleged drug trader Md Liton Majhi and his associate Md Siddiq Molla.
Following information provided by the detained, the joint operation team also seized 1,595 Yaba tablets, 1kg of hemp, 2 mobile phones, a motorcycle used for drug transportation, and Tk45,100 in cash.
Multiple drug-related cases were previously filed against the arrested with Shashi Bhushan Police Station, said a press release of the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate.
On the same day, another joint operation was conducted in front of a 50-bed hospital in Terokhada upazila of Khulna.
During the operation, alleged drug trader Md Masum Billah was arrested while selling drugs.
The joint operation team seized 36 Yaba tablets, one mobile phone, and Tk3,770 in cash from his possession.
Police personnel participated alongside the Bangladesh Navy in both operations.
After the operations, the arrested and seized items were handed over to Shashi Bhushan and Terokhada police stations for legal actions.
Under the directive of the interim government, the Bangladesh Navy has been conducting regular patrol operations as part of the "in aid to civil power" framework, the release added.
