Tk115cr total in illegal wealth: ACC files cases against Zahid Maleque, Palak and Mirza Azam
The anti-graft watchdog has also sued the wives of Palak and Azam and the son of Zahid
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed six separate cases against former health minister Zahid Maleque, his son Rahat Maleque, former state minister for post, telecommunication and information technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and his wife, and former state minister for textiles and jute Mirza Azam and his wife on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth a total of Tk155 crore.
The cases were filed at the anti-graft watchdog's Dhaka Integrated District Office today (12 December), ACC Director General (Prevention) Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
Former minister Zahid has been accused of amassing undeclared assets worth Tk614,256,426 and his son Rahat of acquiring assets worth Tk114,984,161.
Palak has been charged with acquiring illegal assets worth Tk87,347,042 and his wife Arifa Jasmine of Tk95,893,433.
Mirza Azam has been accused of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk397,667,200 and his wife Dewan Aleya of Tk237,771,995.
