Tour Operators Association announces int'l tourism award
The apex body of tour operators in the country made an official announcement for the ‘TOAB International Tourism Award’ at a press conference
For the first time, the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) will award 23 persons and organisations in recognition of their contribution to local and international tourism.
The apex body of tour operators in the country made an official announcement for the 'TOAB International Tourism Award' at a press conference today.
On 29 May, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan will present the 'TOAB International Tourism Award' among the recipients at an event at a city hotel.
"Our main purpose is to recognise those who have made a lot of contribution to the development of this important tourism industry." Said Shiblul Azam Koreshi, president of the apex body of tour operators in the country, at the media briefing.
The award will be given in 20 categories. They include Eco Tourism Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Tour Operator (as Pioneering), Tourism Transport (as Pioneering), Global Ambassador of Bangladesh, Best Tourism Academy in Bangladesh,
Other categories include Rising Hotelier Award, Best Tour Operator Friendly Resort and Best Tourism Promoting Media in Bangladesh. Best Tour Operator Supportive Restaurant, Tourism Policy Making Appreciation Award, Best Luxury Hotel, Best Tourism Supportive Airline, Best Tourism Creative Promoter of Bangladesh.
Addressing the press conference, Md Amin Helaly, senior vice-president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said, "There is an opportunity for more internationalisation of the local tourism sector. It is possible to expand its spread by organising different types of fairs. Such recognition will create healthy competition in the sector to enhance the quality of the tourism industry."
