Tourists stranded in Saint Martin’s return as weather improves
More tourists newly arrived at the Island on Sunday
More than 200 tourists, who were stranded in Saint Martin's Island due to rough weather, returned to Cox's Bazar coast on Sunday after the weather improved.
A ship named - Karnaphuli Express - carrying about 600 tourists, including the stranded tourists, reached the Cox's Bazar jetty at 9.30 pm on Sunday, said ship official Hossain Islam Bahadur.
Md Abdur Rahman, meteorologist at Cox's Bazar Met office, said the warning signal at the Cox's Bazar maritime port has been lowered as the depression created over the Bay of Bengal faded away. As the sea has calmed, there is no difficulty in navigating the ship.
St Martin's Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Nur Mohammad said that more tourists newly arrived at the Island on Sunday.
The movement of vessels on the Saint Martin's water route was suspended for the last few days due to the hostile weather.
