Truck and covered-van council calls off tomorrow’s strike
The announcement came after a meeting between Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and the leaders of Bangladesh Truck, Covered-Van Goods Transport Owners-Workers Unity Council on Sunday
The leaders of Bangladesh Truck, Covered-Van Goods Transport Owners-Workers Unity Council have called off their strike, which had been scheduled for October 12 and 13.
The announcement came after a meeting between Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and the leaders of the goods transport association on Sunday.
Earlier on October 4, the Council called the 48-hour strike across the country to press home their 9-point demand, including amendment to the Road Transport Act, reports UNB.

At the time, General Secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, Osman Ali said that the government had implemented the Road Transport Act-2018 without taking into consideration the interests of transport owners and workers. Due to this law, the transport owners and workers are incurring financial losses.
State Minister for Shipping, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, was also present at today's inter- ministerial meeting held at the conference room of the Home Affairs Ministry.
Among others, former Shipping Minister, Shahjahan Khan; State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mashiur Rahman Ranga; Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division; Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, Convener of Bangladesh Truck, Covered-Van Goods Transport Owners-Workers Unity Council, Rustam Ali Khan; Secretary Member, Md Tajul Islam and other leaders were in attendance.
