Two arrested over embezzling Tk 2.17 crore of Rupali Sanchay and Rindan Samiti
They were arrested for their alleged involvement of embezzling Taka 2.17 crore of the cooperative in connivance with each other
Police arrested two persons from Khan Jahan Ali area of Khulna yesterday night (6 October) on charges of misappropriating money from a cooperative society in the capital's Bangshal area.
The arrested were Managing Director of the Rupali Sonchoy and Rindan Samiti at Armanitoal in Bangshal, Md Sazzad Khan and its Manager Syed Zafor Ali.
They were arrested for their alleged involvement of embezzling Taka 2.17 crore of the cooperative in connivance with each other.
A case was filed with Bangshal Police Station in Dhaka on 1 October.
According to the case details, one customer opened several FRD and DPS of Taka 2.17 crore after his and names of his family members with the cooperative.
As per the condition of the agreements, the customers were supposed to get the money from the cooperative on 26 September.
But, the cooperative did not pay them the money and fled Dhaka after closing it.
Being informed, a team of Bangshal Thana Police arrested the duo from area.
