Two bodies found by roadside in Hathazari, Patiya
According to police, locals spotted the severely disfigured corpse and informed them about it
Police recovered two bodies from the roadside in Hathazari and Patiya upazilas of Chattogram today (23 January).
One of the bodies, believed to be of a man aged around 60, was discovered near the Charia Ijtema field along the Chattogram-Nazirhat regional highway in Mirzapur Union No-3 of Hathazari Upazila.
According to police, locals spotted the severely disfigured corpse and informed them about it.
Nazirhat highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shahabuddin said, "Preliminary evidence suggests the man may have died in a road accident while crossing the highway on his way to offer prayers."
In a separate incident, another body was found in a ditch along the roadside at Azimpur area under Kachuai union in Patiya.
The man's hands, feet, and face were tied with a belt, raising suspicions of foul play, police said.
Confirming the matter, Patiya police station OC Abu Zayed Md Nazmun Noor said, "Initial investigation suggests the man was killed elsewhere, and his body was dumped at the location. We are actively investigating the case."
Both bodies have been sent to the Chittagong Medical College (CMC) morgue for autopsy.
