Two killed in 'gunfights' in Cox’s Bazar and Mymensingh
A foreign pistol, seven local arms and 63 rounds of bullets were recovered from one scene.
Two persons were killed in separate “gunfights” with law enforcers in Cox’s Bazar and Mymensingh today.
In cox’s Bazar, an alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Maheshkhali upazila.
The deceased Nurul Kared Rana, 34, of Sariar Dail area in Matarbari.
“A team of RAB-7 launched a drive to arrest Rana and sensing their presence, the robbers opened fire on the elite force. RAB, in retaliation also fired on them,” said Mashqur Rahman, media officer and assistant superintendent of police of RAB-7.
Rana was killed during the gunfight.
His body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.

In Mymensingh, an alleged thief was killed in a reported gunfight with the district Detective Branch of police.
Deceased Khalil, 37, of Jamalpur Sadar upazila, was an active member of a thief cycle, said Shah Kamal Akond, officer-in-chargee of Mymensingh DB police.
Being tipped off that some thieves were selling stolen auto-rickshaws at Badekella area in Mymensingh, a team of detective branch of police conducted a drive. Sensing their presence, the criminals opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate, said he.
Khalil sustained bullet wounds while others managed to flee, he said.
He was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Three police officials were also injured in the incident.
Two stolen auto rickshaws and one pipe gun were recovered from the spot.
