UN takes initiative to improve Cox’s Bazar environment
Three UN agencies will distribute LPG gas and stoves, launch re-forestation activities and provide livelihood assistance to boost food production
Three United Nations agencies, along with the Bangladesh government, will jointly start a programme called "Safe Access to Fuel and Energy Plus Livelihood (Safe Plus)" on February 16 for improving the environment of Cox's Bazar.
The UN agencies are – the Food and Agriculture Organisation, International Organisation for Migration, and World Food Programme.
Under the Safe Plus initiative, these agencies will distribute liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and stoves, launch re-forestation activities, and provide livelihood assistance to boost food production, in a bid to reduce environmental disasters throughout the region.
A contract regarding the programme will be signed at the NEC Conference Room in Dhaka on Sunday.
