Unidentified youths vandalise ex-MP Shahjahan Omar's house in Jhalakathi
Some unidentified youth have vandalised former member of parliament from Jhalakathi-1 constituency Barrister Shahjahan Omar's house in the district.
The incident took place at Godownghat area in Jhalakathi Sadar upazila yesterday (20 November) night.
No major loss happened during the attack except some window panes being broken, said Shahjahan's nephew Rafiqul Islam Dulal.
Confirming the matter, Dulal said some unidentified youth threw bricks at the house in the evening.
"Glasses of three windows got broken due to the attack. Although nothing serious happened, we were terrified during the attack," Dulal said.
However, Shahjahan alleged that the attack was led by Sadar upazila BNP President Abul Kalam Azad and Secretary Nasim Akon.
When asked if he will take any legal actions, Shahjahan said he has asked the almighty for justice.
Contacted, Officer In-Charge of Rajapur police station Md Ismail Hossain said he heard about the incident but nobody has lodged any complaint yet.
Although Shahjahan was a senior BNP leader, he left the party and joined Awami League during 12th national parliamentary elections and became a MP from Jhalakathi-1 seat.
He went into hiding after the political changeover on 5 August.
