Vaccine means victory: Health Minister
We have 70 lakh vaccines in hand. We will get another 3 crore vaccines under the Covax facility.
After receiving Covid-19 vaccine, the Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday said that the vaccine means victory.
"We want to achieve victory through the vaccination programme," said the minister.
He took the vaccine at Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute & Hospital on Sunday morning after inaugurating the vaccination programme.
"Many notable people have also taken the vaccine along with us. We sincerely thank them for taking the vaccine with us. We are all healthy and doing well after the vaccination. No side effects were observed. I didn't even feel any pain in my arm."
"We have 70 lakh vaccines in hand. We will get another 3 crore vaccines under the Covax facility. Vaccination requires a big workforce. The Ministry of ICT has created an app for vaccination. So far, we have not received any adverse comments from any district. If there are any side effects, there is treatment. The doctors and nurses are ready," said Zahid Maleque.
The infection rate now is 2.51% in Bangladesh which is the lowest in the world, he said.
"According to the WHO guidelines, if the infection rate is less than 3%, it will go away slowly. Even if you get vaccinated, you have to wear a mask," he said.
Government has made arrangements to vaccinate those who live in remote villages. Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police across the country have been instructed to bring those who are older than 55 for registration, said the minister.
"Everyone should be aware so that they do not listen to any kind of rumours. We have heard that those who are working in private medical colleges are having troubles to register, we are trying to solve this," he added further.
