Vikram Doraiswami to be India’s next high commissioner to Bangladesh

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has officially named Vikram Kumar Doraiswami as the country's next high commissioner to Bangladesh.
Doraiswami is currently an additional secretary in the ministry. He is expected to take up the assignment soon, MEA said on Thursday.
Vikram K Doraiswami, 45, joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1992. Before joining the Indian Government, he worked as a journalist. He obtained a Master of Arts in History from the University of Delhi.Doraiswami will replace Riva Ganguly Das, a 1986 batch IFS officer, who is likely to take over as secretary (East) at the MEA when the incumbent Vijai Thakur Singh retires in September.
The current Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das arrived Bangladesh on March 1, 2019, to take up her assignment.
