An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard
Sajib Hossain, a young cricketer, committed suicide by hanging himself after not getting a chance to play in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup under-19 team.
He was found dead at his bedroom on Saturday night.
Durgapur police station Officer-in-Charge, Hasmat Ali said the body of cricketer Sajib Hossain was recovered from Jhaluka village on Sunday afternoon.
The police allowed his burial rites to take place as there was no objection from the family.
An unnatural death (UD) case has been filed in this regard.
Sajib had previously toured Sri Lanka, India and other countries for Bangladesh for the under-17 team.
Sources said that the campaign for the Bangabandhu Gold Cup in BKSP started earlier this year with 46 cricketers including Sajib Hossain.
Later, a team of 28 people was selected from there and sent for training.
Team manager of the U-19 team Sajjad Hossain said that a national team of 15 people would be formed by selecting from the 28 players selected.
But despite his good performance, Sajib Hossain was not included in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup U-19 team.
He is the son of Morshed Ali of Aamgachhi village in Durgapur upazila, Rajshahi.
Cricketer Sajib Hossain's brother Tasikul Islam said that Sajib had earlier played for the Bangladesh under-17 team in the tours in Sri Lanka, India and other countries.
Despite his good performance, he was not named in the upcoming Bangabandhu Gold Cup tournament. That is why he committed suicide out of frustration, added Tasikul.
