200 days of ‘Food for Good’

On June 7, charity organisation Universal Amity started a new project called 'Food for Good,' which concentrates on providing homeless people with food to address the problem of hunger and malnutrition.

Last week on 23 December 2020, it celebrated the completion of 200 days of its journey, according to a press release issued by the organisation. 

Initially, the project suffered from the insufficient fund. When no donors came forward, founder of Universal Amity Mehedi Hasan and project volunteers pitched in themselves. Brave in the face of adversity, the team was determined and persistent in their efforts to do good.

Alongside 'Food for Good,' other projects were also started.

'Feed a Hungry Child' and 'Amity Milk Bank' was launched for impoverished infants. Projects such as 'Animal Welfare' and 'Amity Meat Bank' were also launched in the capital's Mirpur area.  

These projects complemented 'Food for Good' to address the problem of hunger and malnutrition.

Universal Amity also extended its help during the Covid-19 crisis.

To protect street dwellers' during the coronavirus pandemic, it launched the campaign 'Cleanliness is Wellness' in Mirpur.

To help the poor during winter, Universal Amity started its widely reached 'Winter Care' project under which it distributed blankets and winterwear in Panchagarh, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Sathkira, and Khulna.

To help the flood-affected population in Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, and Ulipur, the organisation also launched its 'Fund for Flood' project.

To help those affected by the river erosion, Universal Amity stood next to families in Kurigram by providing shelter through 'Safe Shelter'.

It also introduced 'Income Aid' in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram.

The organisation - Universal Amity - is a charity organisation formed in 2015 which is run solely by collecting donations.
