The leading e-commerce and delivery companies of the country are working in coalition to delivery essential goods on the customer's doorstep amid the coronavirus situation in the country.
The companies are Daraz, Chaldal, Bagdoom, Pickaboo, Foodpanda and Uber Eats.
Daraz took this initiative with the motto "Stay safe, let us deliver" to ensure that customers can easily access basic commodities such as flour, noodles, pasta, lentils, soaps, handwash, sanitizers, sugar, tea, surface cleaners, hand washes etc. over online, a press release issued by Daraz on Thursday reads.
Daraz is delivering in 30 other districts, including Dhaka, by maintaining proper health guidelines.
Chadal.com, on the other hand, is delivering products like fruits, vegetables, breakfast items, beverages, meat, fish, snacks, dairy, frozen and canned food, bread, bakery, diabetic food, etc inside Dhaka. Besides grocery, they are also delivering cleaning tools, home appliances, beauty products, baby food and pet food.
Restaurant foods are being delivered to the home by Foodpanda and UberEats. They are encouraging consumers to make online payments and choose contactless deliveries to prevent the spread of coronavirus, whereby customers will be able to receive delivery while maintaining social distance.
Customers' orders are currently being received at Pickaboo and Bagdoom and the delivery will start after April 4.
The organisations instructed their delivery agents to wear masks and gloves at all times. The delivery agents have also been instructed to take extra precautionary measures and disinfect the package at the customer's doorstep.
The organisation provided riders hand sanitizer as a precautionary measure. The physical temperature of all employees and all members of the logistics team is being checked several times a day with a forehead thermometer, the press release mentions.
