Honda launches latest Livo at reduced price
The price has decreased due to technology transfer and localisation efforts made by the motorcycle brand
Achieving the milestone of selling 50,000 Livo 110 advanced commuter motorcycles in just 37 months, Bangladesh Honda Private Limited has launched its latest editions with lower price tags.
The prices decreased thanks to the gradual technology transfer and localisation efforts by the motorcycle brand which has already begun manufacturing frame parts, welding and painting frames as well as assembling engines locally. This type of production is technically called category one manufacturing.
At the launch event at a city hotel on Sunday, Himihiko Katsuki, managing director and chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Honda, thanked all existing Livo customers for their love and acceptance of Livo that has helped the company achieve the 50,000-unit milestone in a short period.
He reiterated Honda's commitment to continuing efforts for improving customer service and providing quality products at affordable prices for higher customer satisfaction in Bangladesh.
Md Rois Uddin, chairman of both Bangladesh Honda and the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation, was present at the ceremony.
Naresh Kumar Rattan, senior vice president (sales and marketing) of the company, overviewed the state of the motorcycle market and said the 100-110cc segment makes up 42% of the local market where Honda Livo is a strong player.
Bangladesh Honda, last month, launched its localised basic commuter model Dream 110 at a price tag lower than Tk90,000 and now it has brought out the latest edition of the Livo front disk brake version at Tk1,08,900, while the drum brake version is due to cost Tk1,03,900 – which is over Tk8,000 less than its previous price.
Honda Bangladesh Marketing Division Head Gias Uddin Sajib made a presentation on the advanced features of the new Livo that includes Honda Eco Technology (HET) engine which ensures a blend of performance and fuel economy.
The new Livo goes 74 kilometres on one litre of gasoline, which makes the motorcycle the best in its class.
Livo also adopted Honda Intelligent Ignition Control System technology that supports the motorcycle smoothly across uneven roads, even when it has pillion loads, said Gias Uddin.
Its five-step adjustable rear suspension, 180mm high ground clearance and 1285mm long wheelbase provide a stable and comfortable ride, he added.
On top of everything, the motorcycle's sealed chain, maintenance-free battery, tubeless tyres and viscous air filter make every ride convenient, according to Gias Uddin.
Its unique HET Tyre Technology reduces rolling resistance for higher fuel efficiency and offers high grip on the road while braking for enhanced safety.
The New Livo is available in both disk and drum brake variants which have a new style and look in red, blue and matte grey colours.
The locally-assembled Livo hit the Bangladesh market in 2017 with a price tag of Tk1,35,000.
Japanese Honda Motor Company and the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation entered into a joint venture in 2012 to build Bangladesh Honda Private Limited.
The company is manufacturing motorcycles at its A Monem Economic Zone factory in Munshiganj.
