SOSCL appoints managing director
Rear Admiral (Retd) Riazuddin Ahmed’s appointment began on 1 March
Rear Admiral (Retd) Riazuddin Ahmed has been appointed as the managing director of Summit Oil and Shipping Co Ltd (SOSCL).
Riazuddin Ahmed replaced M Hafizur Rahman on 1 March, the company said in a press release on Monday. Rahman, the former managing director of SOSCL, has been appointed as an advisor to the company.
Riazuddin Ahmed is also the advisor to the Summit Group of Companies as well as an independent director of Summit Alliance Port Ltd.
On his appointment, Muhammed Aziz Khan, chairman of Summit Group of Companies remarked, "We are happy to have him [Riazuddin] lead Summit's energy and port businesses. He will be able to spearhead Summit's expected expansion in both the energy and port businesses in Bangladesh."
During his distinguished career, Riazuddin served on different ships and in various establishments of the Bangladesh Navy, Armed Forces Division and Directorate General of Defense Purchase.
He also served as the managing director of Khulna Shipyard Ltd, chairman of both Chattogram Port Authority and Mongla Port Authority – on deputation while he was a member of the International Association of Ports and Harbors.
Riazuddin is a graduate of BSc Engineering (Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering) from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
