123 workers infected with Covid-19 after factories reopen
Among the infected workers, about 100 are from apparel industries
Some 123 workers of various industries including readymade garment factories have been diagnosed positive with the novel coronavirus after factories resumed their operations since May 26 across the country.
Among the infected workers, about 100 are from apparel industries. Of them, 82 workers are from 41 Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) member factories, 15 workers from 14 Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BKMEA) member factories and two workers from a member factory of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), according to the Industrial police.
Thirteen workers were infected from seven factories located in Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) areas and 11 workers from 11 other industries.
Industrial Police headquarters' superintendent of police (Intelligence and Operations) Mohammad Amjad Hossain told The Business Standard, "All the infected workers' treatment is underway. All of them are in good physical condition."
Those who came in contact with infected workers are also staying at home isolation, he added.
