278 Lebanon returnees sent to quarantine
They were handed over to the Bangladesh Army for institutional quarantine
Some 278 Bangladeshis, who returned from Lebanon, have been placed in institutional quarantine amid a government ban on passengers from the Middle Eastern country.
A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the passengers landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3.28am last night.
They were handed over to the Bangladesh Army for institutional quarantine after completing the formalities at the Health Desk and Immigration Department at the airport.

Relatives of the returnees waiting outside the airport created chaos opposing the quarantine. However, the members of the Aviation Security Force managed to convince them and sent the team with the Bangladesh Army around 1.10pm.
On 1 April, the government imposed a ban on passengers from European nations, except the UK, and 12 other countries as a restrictive measure to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.
The other countries are Argentina, Bahrain, Brazil, Chile, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Peru, Qatar, South Africa, Turkey and Uruguay.
