4 areas declared Covid-19 red zones in Mymensingh

The district administration has declared three areas of Mymensingh city and one union of Bhaluka upazila red zones to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.
The areas in the city are: Charpara and Medical College area, Akua and Kanchijhuli area.
Another red zone area is Habirbari union of Bhaluka upazila.
The decision was taken after a virtual meeting, headed by Deputy Commissioner Mizanur Rahman, on Covid-19 on Sunday.
Police Super Ahmar Uzzaman and Civil Surgeon ABM Mosiul Alam were present in the meeting among others.
"It was decided to impose strict restrictions on the movements of people and shopping in the red zones. Besides, red flags will be hoisted there," the deputy commissioner said.
He sought the cooperation of the city corporation in this regard.
Regular health awareness activities through miking would be expanded and religious institutions would also be involved in the work, he added.
According to the civil surgeon, 829 people in Mymensingh are infected with Covid-19 so far. Of them, 404 are from Sadar upazila. Out of the 404 patients in the upazila, 390 live in Charpara and Medical College area, Akua and Kanchijhuli area.
Besides, out of 153 patients in Bhaluka upazila, 84 are residents of Habirbari union.
