45,308 jabbed on first day of ward-level vaccination
The country reported three more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours
After the vaccination drive at slums in the capital city, the two Dhaka City Corporations have started a ward-level Covid vaccination campaign to inoculate more people in a shorter period.
Some 45,308 people got vaccinated in the two city corporations in Dhaka on Tuesday, the first day of the three-day special campaign.
In both city corporations, women are ahead of men in getting vaccinated.
In this campaign, those who have registered for vaccination as well as those who have not registered also received vaccines.
Oxford-AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine has been administered during the campaign. The second dose can be taken from the same centre two months after the first dose.
More than 9 crore vaccine doses have been administered till Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
Of them, 5.52 crore people have received at least the first dose of the vaccine, while 3.51 crore has received two doses. Nearly 6.9 crore people have registered for the vaccine until Monday.
3 more die of Covid in 24hrs
Bangladesh reported three more deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours till 8 am Tuesday. Besides, 284 more people tested positive for the virus during the same period.
The current positivity rate was reported at 1.45% after 19,568 samples were tested across the country.
Bangladesh reported two deaths and 264 cases on Monday.
With the latest additions, the death toll reached 27,958 and the case tally increased to 1,574,636 in the country.
