More than 3,000 Bangladeshi citizens, including patients and students, have so far returned home from a number of Indian cities by special chartered flights or roads amid a countrywide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
"The process is still continuing," Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi said Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 88 more Bangladeshis, who got stranded in India due to lockdown there, returned home from Mumbai earlier in the day.
A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Mumbai at 5:55pm bringing back 88 Bangladeshi citizens, Deputy General Manager (PR) of Biman Tahera Khondokar told UNB.
More special flights will be operated from Bengaluru, Delhi and Chennai to Dhaka on May 13-14 to bring back rest of the Bangladesh citizens who are willing to return.
The government in coordination with Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi have been overseeing the return process.
